Hi, I'm Hayley Taulbut and I studied PCGE within Southampton Education School at the University of Southampton.

The team at the education school were fantastic. They were always supportive and there to help, both with qualifying as a teacher and finding a permanent job at the end of my studies. They made every effort to tailor the placement to your needs and aspirations, whilst providing a range of places to train.

Q: Why did you choose to undertake your studies in Education with the University of Southampton?

I had previously studied for my Undergraduate and Masters degrees at the University of Southampton so I already had an overwhelmingly positive experience of the university as a whole. The course attracted me because it allowed students to gain a mixture of hands on experience as well as theoretical knowledge of education, which has provided a good foundation for completing the masters’ qualification in Education in the future.

Q: What have you been able to achieve as a result of studying at the University of Southampton?

Since leaving Southampton, I have a full-time permanent job in a secondary school in Surrey, teaching key stages 3, 4 and 5. My studies prepared me for this endeavour and I am enjoying it immensely, but what I have also taken away from Southampton is a network of continuous help and support, not only from my PGCE colleagues, but from the staff as well.
