Mr Hamis Mugendawala is Doctoral Student within Southampton Education School at the University of Southampton.

Hamis is currently undertaking his PhD in Economics of Education at the University of Southampton Education School, under the sponsorship of the Economic and Social Research Council of Britain. Prior, he was a Commonwealth Scholar at the Institute of Education University of London from where he holds an MA. in Educational Planning, Economics and International Development. Further, Hamis holds an MSc in Accounting and Finance of Makerere University-Uganda, a first class (1:1) Bachelor of Education of Kyambogo University-Uganda and a Diploma in Education of the Institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo-Uganda. Such diverse training has honed his analytical, research and writing skills among others.

Besides having worked as secondary teacher in Uganda, he has also previously worked as Assistant Lecturer at Kyambogo University and Makerere University in Uganda. Moreover, he was a resource person at the London International Development Centre (LIDC) where he was exposed to the works of the LANCET commission which was the first to provide an informed Audit on the progress so far made by the different countries in their endeavours to attain the Millennium Development Goals.
