Sadhbh O’Dwyer is a PhD student at Southampton Education School, University of Southampton.

Research interests

Sadhbh's research is on the transformative impacts of social justice theories for Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) tutors who work in UK universities. As an SpLD specialist in HE, they have seen first-hand that there was a lack of awareness of more social models of dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and ASD.

Their research investigates the transformative impacts of learning about such theories for SpLD tutors. SpLD tutors themselves rarely get the opportunity to be involved in research (tutors are increasingly outsourced on zero-hours contracts and may not have much access to university resources and research).

Sadhbh has designed her PhD to include SpLD tutors in all parts of the research including the research analysis. She has learnt that inclusion matters in all parts of research including methodology.
