Research project: Co-teaching Between Mainstream and Special Schools: A Partnership to Promote the Inclusion of Pupils with Special Needs and/or Disabilities

Currently Active:
Yes

This project aims to describe and evaluate, through a collaborative research approach, a partnership between a special and three mainstream primary schools which have developed a collaborative model for the inclusion of pupils with special needs and disabilities (SEND) in mainstream schools/classrooms.

Dates: September 2020 – March 2022

The researchers and the school participants will co-describe and co-evaluate the process and the outcomes of this model which could provide an alternative to the commonly used teacher and TA model. The project will produce professional development (PD) materials to depict how this partnership is planned, implemented and evaluated and guidelines to disseminate the findings to schools and policy makers.
