Book an appointment

We can arrange a needs assessment appointment for you once you have received a letter from your funding body confirming your eligibility for Disabled Students’ Allowances. When you have this letter, please contact us to book your appointment.

Where to have your needs assessment

You can attend any accredited needs assessment centre. You do not have to be a student at the University of Southampton or live in our region to attend the Wessex Needs Assessment Centre (WNAC), which is a long-established professional needs assessment centre at Highfield campus, fully accredited by the Disabled Students’ Allowances Quality Assurance Group (DSA-QAG).

We also operate three outreach Needs Assessment Centres covering Hampshire and Dorset which may be more convenient:

Visit our find us page for information on our exact locations and transport connections.

Please tell us your preferred assessment centre when you contact us.

Opening times

For the opening times of each assessment centre visit our find us pages.

Appointment waiting time

The next WNAC DSA needs assessment appointment is available in 2 working days. We aim to offer students an appointment within 15 working days.

Appointment duration

We recommend that you allow up to 2 hours for your appointment. Each assessment is individual and students with more complex disabilities may need longer for their needs assessments.
