How they can help

 Emergency Services

If you feel at immediate risk of harm to yourself, go straight to your nearest Accident and Emergency department or call the Emergency Services on 999.

 Your GP surgery

If you are feeling very distressed or having thoughts of self-harm or suicide and need immediate help please contact your doctor's surgery and request an emergency appointment.

Please note that your GP surgery is likely to be restricted to working hours.

 NHS 111

You should use the NHS 111 service if your GP surgery is closed and you need medical help or advice but it is not a life-threatening situation.

NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.

 Samaritans
 Tel: 116 123              

To speak to someone in confidence, the Samaritans are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Samaritans are free to call from mobiles and landlines.

 University Security

Outside of office hours (18:00 to 08:00, all weekends, Bank Holidays and University closure days) Student Services, in conjunction with University Security, provide an Out of Hours service for very urgent situations. The security guards are first aid trained.
