Starting University: Take Care of Yourself

Taking the time to look after your wellbeing will ease your transition into university life.

Welcome to the University of Southampton! Starting can be a wonderful and exciting experience, but it can also bring its own unique challenges. It's natural to feel nervous or overwhelmed during the first few weeks at university, and it can be a while before you feel like you've found your feet.

Our main advice is: take care of yourself. Looking after yourself both physically and emotionally is important in maintaining your wellbeing throughout this period of change. Setting simple goals such as getting into a regular sleeping patterneating as healthily as you can, getting some exercise and leaving time to relax will help you to adjust to your new surroundings and start your year on a positive path.
