Hypnotherapy can improve mood and motivation, enhance positive outlook and increases energy

Enabling Services and the University of Southampton are pleased to announce that we are now offering short-term hypnotherapy sessions for students where it is appropriate.

Hypnotherapy is fast, effective and long lasting. It is entirely natural and has only positive side effects. Hypnotherapy improves mood, enhances positive outlook, improves motivation and increases energy. It is particularly suited to students experiencing high levels of anxiety, though it is also effective for a variety of other conditions and symptoms. It makes use of deep physical and mental relaxation to help reduce your levels of stress and anxiety, and it is used alongside traditional cognitive behavioural therapy. Each session will include problem solving as well as relaxation training.

Hypnotherapy can help control ‘specific anxieties’, such as those related to study, exams and social interaction. It can help with ‘generalised anxiety disorder’, whereby we worry and expect the worst even when there is no apparent reason for concern. Hypnotherapy can also help with ‘panic disorder’, characterised by spontaneous seemingly out-of-the-blue panic attacks and a preoccupation with the fear of recurring attacks.

As with most support options, we must ensure that this type of support is the most suitable for you so if you are interested, please contact Enabling Services on enable@soton.ac.uk or come along to a Drop-In session for an assessment form.
