Taking care of your wellbeing can ease the transition to University

Welcome to the University of Southampton! Starting can be a wonderful and exciting experience, however it can also bring its own unique challenges. It's natural to feel nervous or overwhelmed during the first few weeks at university, and it can be a while before you feel like you've found your feet.

Our main advice is: take care of yourself.  Looking after yourself both physically and emotionally is important in maintaining your wellbeing throughout this period of change.  Setting simple goals such as getting into a regular sleep pattern, eating as healthily as you can, getting some exercise and leaving time to relax will help you to adjust to your new surroundings and start your year on a positive path.

Enabling Services offers free workshops and groups, online resources, positive steps, self-help guides and a daily Drop-In (located in Building 37) where you can seek advice and support on settling in.  You can also contact us via our daily Live Chat or by phoning +44 (0)238059 7726.
