Mindful Fridays

Mindfulness meditation can be an effective way to help manage stress and improve your concentration and focus. Mindfulness can also provide a way of becoming calmer and more relaxed. By using mindfulness meditation to become more aware of our automatic reactions, we can learn to respond differently to our experiences.

If you're interested in practising mindfulness meditation in a small group setting, come along to our Mindful Fridays sessions.  They run from 1pm - 1:45pm in the Wellbeing Centre, 28 University Road.

Each week there will be a selection of guided practices, with time to share comments and ask questions. The session can also be a good place to meet other students interested in mindfulness. Over the last few years we have welcomed students who have never meditated before to more experienced students who use it as part of their regular meditation practice.

Each week we will practise from the following:

  • Breath awareness meditation
  • Mindfulness of the body
  • Bodyscan meditation
  • Mindfulness of sounds
  • Mountain meditation
  • Three step breathing meditation
