It's likely that you spend a lot of time interacting with a screen for research, reading, and writing for your studies, as well as scrolling through social media and messaging friends and family. The National Day of Unplugging (Friday 1st March) encourages you to take a break from screens for a digital detox.

Even if you can't avoid a screen for an entire day, the National Day of Unplugging is a reminder to be more mindful with your screen time and take breaks when you need them. Excessive screen use can lead to eye strain and headaches, and the blue light from screens can affect our sleeping patterns.

The Student Union's Sustainability Zone have got lots of events to occupy your time away from your screens:

  • All day: free doughnuts available in The Cube (Level 2, Building 42).
  • All day: MindSoc are available for tea and a chat in The Cube (Level 2, Building 42).
  • 10am – 11am: Aerial Sports in The Cube (Level 2, Building 42).
  • 12:00 – 1pm: Zumba in The Cube (Level 2, Building 42).
  • 2pm – 3:30pm: Circus Skills by CircusSoc in The Cube (Level 2, Building 42).
