University Mental Health Day

This year, University Mental Health Day takes place on Thursday 4th March 2021. This annual event, run jointly by Student Minds and the University Mental Health Advisors Network, brings together the university community to acknowledge the importance of student mental health.

10am - Lifestyle Choices workshop by Sport and Wellbeing

Sport and Wellbeing will be offering a Lifestyle Choices Workshop via Microsoft Teams. This session will include meditation, movement, and yoga. There will also be an opportunity to ask some questions and get some answers on how you can improve your lifestyle. To reserve your space and for further information email our team via sportandwellbeing@southampton.ac.uk

3pm - A check in with our busy minds by Enabling Services

Check in with yourself and connect with others for an informal chat about wellbeing. Join us for a chat about keeping our minds strong and an introduction to how we can be more mindful in our daily lives. This session will be run by Imogen, who is a University of Southampton student and a Peer Mentor for Enabling Services. Imogen will be sharing some knowledge from her Year in Employment as an Assistant Psychologist. Email enable@soton.ac.uk to book your place. 

3pm - Be Active's Meditation session by Sport and Wellbeing

Sport and Wellbeing aim to support your physical and mental health. This meditation session will last approximately 45 minutes and is available to UoS students only. You can book this session and other Be Active sessions here.

4pm - Relaxing Mindfulness session by Student Minds

Join Student Minds to find out more about mindfulness techniques and apps, and be guided through a meditation. Have busy lectures and need a time out? This session may help! Or if you want to hear more about mindfulness and techniques on how to achieve it, this session may be just for you! Join the session via this link.

Reach out for support

It can be helpful to talk to someone about how you are feeling. The Student Life team are available 24/7 to make University a positive experience for you. If you would like to talk to someone about the support that is available to you and make a short-term action plan, you can attend a Student Support Drop-in.
