Semester 1 module marks will be sent to your Southampton email account during the afternoon of Thursday 11 March 2021. Below is some information about what to do if you are not happy with your results.

Supporting yourself

First things first, remember that doing less well than you had hoped is not a failure. It is the work being assessed, not your character, and you are worth more than your grades. It might help you to write down some of the positive qualities about yourself so that you can see them in front of you.

Acknowledge what you have achieved - even if you did not get the grade that you wanted, recognise that you have done well to study during the Covid-19 pandemic, adjust to a blended learning approach and a different assessment style.

It's ok to give yourself the permission to feel sad or frustrated, but if your emotions are becoming too intense or overwhelming, you may choose to use some healthy distractions to take your mind off things for a while. You could go for a walk, have a video call with friends, cook a nice meal or do something creative.

Reaching out for support

It can be helpful to talk things through with somebody.

If for any reason, you are considering appealing your exam results, you can access help and support at the Students’ Union Advice Centre. You can discuss your options with an advisor so that you can make an informed decision about your next steps.

If you would like some wellbeing support  after receiving your results then book a slot at an upcoming Student Support Drop-In.

If you need to talk about practical matters, such as retaking your assessments, speak to your Student Office for information and guidance.
