For University of Southampton students only. Mindfulness meditation can be an effective way to help manage stress and improve your concentration and focus. Mindfulness can also provide a way of becoming calmer and more relaxed. By using mindfulness meditation to become more aware of our automatic reactions, we can learn to respond differently to our experiences.

The Mindfulness Meditation drop-in is an opportunity to practise mindfulness meditation in a small group setting. Each week there will be a selection of guided practices, with time to share comments and ask questions. The drop-in can also be a good place to meet other students interested in mindfulness. Over the last few years we have welcomed students who have never meditated before to more experienced students who use it as part of their regular meditation practice.

Please arrive five minutes before the start time and take a seat in the Wellbeing Centre waiting area, where you will be collected at 1pm. 

Each week we will practise from the following:

  • Breath awareness meditation
  • Mindfulness of the body
  • Bodyscan meditation
  • Mindfulness of sounds
  • Mountain meditation
  • Three step breathing meditation
