For those in Southampton on Wednesday evening
Following on from the success of the pre-meeting get-together at the Berlin meeting last year, we have selected a pub close to the conference venue where mast cell and basophil enthusiasts can meet informally on the Wednesday evening (23 rd November). The Platform Tavern ( http://www.platformtavern.com/contact.html ) a historic pub in the mediaeval walls of Southampton’s Town Quay is located a 10-minute walk from the Grand Harbour Hotel (towards the old town and opposite the Isle of Wight ferry terminal). Real ale is served (and food until 9 o’clock). Some of us will be there from 6.30 pm.
For a more formal meal, a little further on in Oxford Street, there are a number of restaurants and bars covering various kinds of cuisine (eg the White Star Tavern http://whitestartavern.co.uk ).
On the Thursday evening dinner will be held on the gun deck of the Victorian warship HMS Warrior, moored in Portsmouth Harbour. HMS Warrior, launched in 1860, was the pride of Queen Victoria's fleet. Powered by steam and sail, she was the largest, fastest and most powerful ship of her day.
Coaches will leave from the Grand Harbour Hotel at 7.00 pm and will return later in the evening.
Total numbers attending required by Monday 21 November, but a waiting list will be maintained for those who express an interest after this date.Should you have a ticket, but no longer wish to attend, please return tickets to Conference Reception.
