Dr Anthony Blake is a Research Fellow within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton.
During his PhD, he carried out centrifuge and field-scale testing to assess the geotechnical performance of a novel deep-water anchoring system for the oil and gas industry which was subsequently licensed to industry. He previously worked for Bombora Wave Power where he assisted with the installation, instrumentation and monitoring of a mid-scale prototype ‘mWave’ wave energy converter. In 2017, he received the ASTM C. A. Hogentogler Award for authoring a paper of outstanding merit on soils for engineering purposes.
Active research projects that he is involved with include:
- Screw piles foundations for offshore wind (www.screwpilesforoffshorewind.co.uk)
- ACHILLES - Assessment, Costing and enhancement of long - life, long-linear assets (www.achilles-grant.org.uk), and
- Railway over-line electrification mast foundations.
