Associate Professor

David Toal is an associate professor in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and is interested in the development of novel geometry generation and optimisation methodologies for engineering design.
Interests:
David’s primary research interests lie in the development of novel engineering design processes for aerospace systems. This includes:
- The development of advanced surrogate modelling and machine learning techniques to aid engineering decision making.
- Automated geometry generation and decomposition techniques including, for example, CAD automation and medial surface generation.
- The development of strategies for efficient decision making in a collaborative environment
- The development of novel unmanned system architectures
