Dr Dichu Xu is a Research Fellow within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton.

Dichu obtained her PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Zhejiang University (China) in 2019. She was doing researches at IFS, University of Leeds during 2016~2018. During her PhD, she gained experience of computational modelling of boundary lubrication, as well as using latest experimental techniques (Atomic Force Microscopy, in-situ Raman spectroscopy) for surface characterisation, contributing to a new understanding of the topical mechanochemistry phenomenon.

Currently she is working on the EU Horizon 2020 project “Medical Device Obligations Taskforce (MDOT)” which aims to develop the latest hydrogel coatings for excellent tribological performance in total hip replacement.
