Hannah is a clinically trained researcher and lecturer in audiology at the Hearing and Balance Centre (HABC), University of Southampton.

Accurately measuring functional hearing ability in the workplace is important to ensure that employees have adequate hearing ability to do their job safely and effectively.

Hannah graduated from the University of Southampton with a BSc (hons) in Audiology in 2012. In 2016 Hannah completed her PhD, focussing on improving auditory fitness for duty assessment methods for military personnel. Hannah was appointed as a Lecturer in Audiology in 2016 and promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2018. Since 2018 Hannah has also been working part-time at as a Clinical Audiologist for Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust.

She teaches on several undergraduate and postgraduate Audiology modules, including clinical skills, project supervision and placement assessment. As module coordinator for the module BSc module Biopsychosocial Basis of Audiology Hannah enjoys teaching students how to reflect on the experiences of hearing-impaired people beyond simply considering the changes to the auditory system.

Hannah is interested in speech in noise test development and using speech testing to tell us more about individual hearing ability than conventional pure tone testing. She is particularly interested in using speech testing to assess auditory fitness for duty and has supported the Ministry of Defence and College of Policing on this topic.

Hannah is registered with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP) and is a member of the British Academy of Audiology (BAA).
