Dr. John Schoon is Visiting Research Fellow within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton.
Dr. John G. Schoon, a chartered civil engineer, is currently a visiting fellow with the Transportation Research Group, and Emeritus Professor of Civil Engineering, Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts. His consulting experience of multi-modal transportation planning, highway engineering and community involvement brings a wide perspective on transportation engineering and planning. Other experience includes forensic engineering in traffic accident reconstruction, project management and consulting in several countries for governmental agencies and the United Nations and, currently, lecturing, student project supervision, and research at the University of Southampton. He is also a member of the committee on accessible transportation and mobility of the Transportation Research Board, National Academy of Sciences. His most recent research and publications have focussed on pedestrian behaviour related to facilities analysis and design, including those for people using mobility aids such as wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
