Dr Michał Kalkowski is research fellow within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.

 

Michał graduated in Control Engineering and Robotics (MSc. Eng.) from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, Poland in 2010. During his MSc project he worked on the influence of a magnetic field on vibration of a sandwich beam filled with a magnetorheological fluid. Prior to joining ISVR, from February 2008 he has been working in an R&D company as a mechanical design engineer. In October 2010 he embarked on the PhD programme at the University of Southampton and started his project on invoking delamination with piezo-actuated structural waves (ultrasonic de-icing) under supervision of Dr Emiliano Rustighi and Dr Timothy Waters. For a short period he has been supporting a Knowledge Transfer Partnership project on low-power ice protection systems. From 2011 to 2014 he has been engaged in demonstrating for various Engineering Foundation Year (GENG1692) modules.

In February 2014 he was appointed as a Research Fellow and started working on active control of parametrically excited systems with Dr Maryam Ghandchi Tehrani.
