Peter Morice is an Emeritus Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Southampton.

He established the Department of Civil Engineering 1958. In addition to a new undergraduate course, he established postgraduate courses in Advanced Structural Engineering in 1962, and Irrigation Engineering in 1964. He served as Head of Department from 1958-1968 and 1974-1980, and Dean of Faculty from 1959-1962. Peter was a Permanent Member of Senate, a Member of Council and Chairman of the Engineering Professors Council from 1989-1990.

Active in Engineering research, he arranged a series on International Symposia at Southampton. Peter published many papers as well as books on Prestressed Concrete in 1952 and 1959, Linear Structural Analysis in 1959, and the History of the Department in 1998.

Peter was instrumental in establishing Music on Campus and founded the University of Southampton Concert Society in 1960. He arranged regular campus Art Exhibitions which led to the formation Hansard Gallery in 1975. He designed and built the campus analemmatic sundial to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the University Charter.

Peter also played a major part in establishing Sultan Qaboos University in Oman.
