Sophie Hallam is an Experimental Research Technician for the Human Factors Engineering group within the faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton.

Sophie completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology in 2019 and went on to pursue her interest in Cyberpsychology and Human Factors with her masters in Cybersecurity and Human Factors, graduating in September 2020.

Sophie has joined the Transportation Research Group to work as an Experimental Research Technician for the CoMTET (Command Team Experimental Test-Bed) Project that is funded by the Defence Science Technology Laboratory. CoMTET is a full-size model of a submarine control room built with command posts and computer simulations. It was built to perform novel research into submarine command team socio-technical networks and is one of the only research facilities of its kind in the United Kingdom. Current research looks to provide evidence-based recommendations for change to optimise the design and operation of future submarine control rooms. A press release can be found here.
