Raynold Tan is a Research Fellow in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the University of Southampton.

Raynold joined the University in November 2020 and is currently working jointly with Prof. Ralf Deiterding and Prof. Neil Sandham in the Aerodynamics and Flight Mechanics group on the study of compressible flow over rough surfaces. His key interests are computational fluid dynamics, fundamental study of compressible fluid flows, turbulent fluid flows, and heat transfer using direct numerical simulations.

Raynold completed his PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Melbourne in July 2020. His PhD dissertation,  titled “A framework for multidimensional analysis and development of numerical schemes” was focused on the coupled analysis and development of numerical algorithm applicable to the simulation of compressible turbulent flows with shock.
