Dr Ying Ye is Lecturer within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton

Ying Ye graduated in 2014 from the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at the University of Southampton with a Doctor degree in Human response to vibration (PhD). Following this, Ying began working as a Research Fellow and then a lecturer in the Human Factors Research Unit in the Institute of Sound and Vibration. Ying’s research is mainly concerned with improving the understanding on human response to hand-transmitted vibration, subjective and physiological responses to whole body vibration and motion sickness.

Research project(s)

Human response to force and hand-arm vibration

The aim of the project is to understand the mechanisms involved in mediating the physiological responses of human hand to vibration and force. The further model could be developed to link the physiological responses with the biodynamic measures. The results of this project will identify the effective evaluation and prevention methods of hand arm vibration injuries and further guidance to manufacturer of hand held power tools.
