Hi, I'm Anderson Etika and I studied MSc Transportation Planning and Engineering at Southampton within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.
The course was fun and exciting but also highly challenging at times. The course and module structure was quite straightforward and gave me the opportunity to learn and gather extensive knowledge within a short time.
Why did you decide to study the MSc Transportation Planning and Engineering at Southampton?
I had a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and I was particularly interested in the Highway and Transportation Engineering Modules. When I obtained a scholarship to do my Masters in the UK, the M.Sc. Transportation Planning and Engineering program at Southampton was the best fit to further my transportation studies and I was delighted when I was accepted onto the course.

The course was fun and exciting but also highly challenging at times. The course and module structure was quite straightforward and gave me the opportunity to learn and gather extensive knowledge within a short time.
How has the course helped your career?
The knowledge gained from the course has helped me greatly in pursuing an academic career in Nigeria, particularly enhancing my research skills.
Tell us about your current job
On completion of my M.Sc., I went back to lecturing Highway and Transportation Engineering to undergraduate students in the Department of Civil Engineering, Cross River University of Technology in Nigeria. I also undertake some Civil Engineering practice on a part time basis with a consulting firm. I am currently on study leave for a PhD at the Institute of Transport Studies, University of Leeds, UK.
