Hi, I'm Harry Morley and I studied Mechanical Engineering within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.

Harry wants to work at the cutting edge of technology.

Harry spotted his degree course when it was ranked the number one for mechanical engineering in The Guardian’s University guide. He knew that the University of Southampton offered him the best opportunity to achieve his ambition.

Within his degree programme he has been able to choose modules that suit his interests and also pick from a huge variety of projects for his dissertation. The balance of breadth and depth available on his course has opened up a variety of topics. This has allowed him to discover the areas that really interest him and tailor his course accordingly. He also took modules in management and entrepreneurship and found that they gave him a sense of what working in industry is like.

Inspired by guest lecturers from the world’s leading engineering firms, he immersed himself in an opportunity that brings together students from across the many subject areas within the University.

In 2013, he joined the University’s Formula Student race team; a competition where the best student engineers from across Europe compete in designing and building a racing car to compete at Silverstone. Harry has now been promoted to Technical Director, playing a key role in developing this year’s potentially winning design.
