Hi, I'm Tan Chao and I studied MSc Transportation Planning and Engineering (2005/06) within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.

The course enabled me to find a job and obtain a work visa in the UK right after my Masters degree study.

Why did you decide to study the MSc Transportation Planning and Engineering at Southampton?
At the time, I worked for the UK China Joint Intelligent Transport Systems centre and I was interested in the varied aspects of transport planning taught on the course.

What did you enjoy about the course?
The course was very practical, covering planning, engineering and financial aspects for the transportation industry.

How has the course helped your career?
The course enabled me to find a job and obtain a work visa in the UK right after my Masters degree study.

I am a transport consultant with Transport for London (TfL) and a part time PhD student at Aston University study in Computer Science.
