Collaboration

Research and development is at the heart of any knowledge-based or innovative company. We have a long history of working with industry, collaborating on cutting-edge research projects. For businesses wishing to develop products, innovative processes and new insights, we are an ideal partner.

From orthopaedic implant modelling and modern fuel cell technologies to enhancing satellite broadcast technology and improving the aerodynamics of Formula 1 racing cars, we are always at the leading edge of research. We provide a range of services to industry and have a history of successful collaboration with leading technology companies worldwide.

Research collaborations can take many forms, from the creation of University Technology Centres to enable intensive research and development to long- and short-term contract research projects.

We work with businesses of varying size in both the public and voluntary sectors across the UK. In the past three years alone, we have worked with over 100 different partners from a wide variety of business sectors, including aerospace, automotive, ship/marine, manufacturing, energy (oil, gas), bioengineering, packaging, materials, surface engineering and coatings.

Through working with us, partners can gain access to government and EU research funding to inject additional investment into their research. Tax credits are likely to be available for all research activity – see HM Revenue & Customs website for more information: www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/randd
