Find a course: Professional Development

We offer a range of intensive short courses, which provide the knowledge and skills required in today's dynamic and changing engineering environment. You will be taught by some of the country's top academics, and will have access to the latest research findings.

Advanced Course in Aeroacoustics

An introduction to aeroacoustics, with an emphasis on the physics and modelling that underpin predictive acoustic analysis. The material presented forms a sound, practical basis for acousticians and engineers working at an advanced level. More information can be found in the downloads.

Advanced Course in Noise Control

This advanced course outlines the underlying principles of noise control, examines the character of noise in some key applications, and discusses how noise may be reduced by design or through palliative treatment. More information can be found in the downloads.

Automotive Noise Vibration and Harshness (NVH) Course

The trend in recent years towards quieter, more refined vehicles and branding through acoustic signatures, has meant that understanding the fundamentals of automotive noise and vibration is more important than ever to manufacturers. This three-day course is primarily aimed at engineers in design, development, research and applications. The three days provide an intensive presentation of fundamental principles of engine and vehicle noise and vibration generation and control. Emphasis is placed upon both the theory of design and practice of construction, and recent advances in research and development are considered.

Noise and Vibration courses from ISVR Consulting

ISVR Consulting provides courses on noise and vibration tailored to the needs of individual companies or industries. These courses, which are typically one or two days in length, may be held either in Southampton, or at a client’s premises. The ISVR Consulting web site gives further details.

Space Systems Engineering

A one-week course in space systems engineering. We have provided training for professional engineers in the spacecraft manufacturing and associated industries since 1974.

Maritime Technology Education Consortium (MTEC)

We contribute to the Maritime Technology Education Consortium. Each individual module is offered as a stand-alone continuing professional development (CPD) module. Please click on the links below for more information about the modules we offer.
