Professional development is key to keeping ahead of developments in your field and up-skilling your workforce.

Businesses that invest in professional development benefit from greater personal commitment, an increased focus on business needs and the stimulus of new ideas. And it is new ideas, especially in challenging times, that drive business growth.

Postgraduate taught degrees

Our taught programmes will expose you to contemporary issues in engineering and environmental science, giving you the opportunity to specialise in your desired field of operation. Our programmes relate directly to our research strengths, with dissertation research carried out in one of our research groups. The majority of our courses are offered on a full- and part-time basis.

Research degrees

Our world-class research teams are shaping the future, working across a wide range of engineering and environmental science disciplines. As a PhD or EngD student, you will become a valuable member of our vibrant research community, getting to grips with our state-of-the-art facilities and helping us provide innovative solutions to key challenges facing society and industry today. We have opportunities for full- and part-time study.

Short courses

We offer several intensive short courses. They will provide you with the knowledge and skills required in today's dynamic and challenging environment. You will be taught by some of the country's top academics, and will have access to the latest research findings. Our courses range from one day to two weeks.

Bespoke provision

If our short courses aren't able to meet the needs of your company and your employees, our consultancy units may be able to provide a bespoke training course. Over the years, we have tailored our short courses to suit the needs of individual employers and have also designed entirely new courses to provide effective training solutions.
