Royal Academy of Engineering Award Ship Science student

The Royal Academy of Engineering recently awarded University of Southampton student, Hieu Le with an Engineering Leadership Advanced Award.

The Engineering Leadership Scheme helps the engineers of tomorrow realise their potential and achieve their goals. The Scheme is open to second year MEng undergraduates on a four year engineering degree.

Hieu is currently taking an MEng in Ship Science, this fantastic award will provide additional training and skills over the next three years to help fast-track Hieu's career after graduating.

Training options range from business courses and language training to more technical development and project management. Hieu will also have help from the Royal Academy of Engineering to develop a personal plan.

The scheme originally enrolled around 30 students per year with awards up to £5000, with sponsorship from Shell the scheme are now able to award 40 students a year. All award holders meet annually at a weekend in Cambridge to network with one another.

Hieu comments: "It was a great honour for me to win such a prestigious award. I hope I will make the most of its mental and financial supports to fulfil my dream in my future career. I highly recommend students to apply for this award next year and happy to answer any questions they might have."
