Engineering Leadership Advanced Award for Reshma Rao

Published: 19 April 2012

MEng Mechanical Engineering student, Reshma Rao, has recently been selected to receive one of the 2012 Engineering Leadership Advanced Awards from the Royal Academy of Engineering.

The highly prestigious Engineering Leadership Advanced Awards are only made to the most outstanding undergraduates studying at UK universities. The RAEng only award up to 40 students each year.

The programme is designed to provide support and motivation to exceptional undergraduates. As a recipient of the award Reshma will be supported by the RAEng over the next three years until she graduates. Reshma's award includes attendance at an annual training and social weekend with other award holders; a personal mentor to provide advice; and assistance to create a Personal Development Plan (PDP) along with £5000 to help her achieve her plan.

Reshma comments: "I am pleased and honoured to receive this award. I would like to take this opportunity to convey my gratefulness to the prestigious University of Southampton, the wonderful faculty and all my dear friends and colleagues. Their contribution has been a major factor in me achieving this award. I do hope to continue doing my best and look forward to enhancing the reputation of the University of Southampton."

Dr Anna Barney, Associate Dean Education, comments: "Congratulations to Reshma on winning this prestigious award! We are always delighted when our students achieve recognition of this kind."
