Teaching audiology in Saudi Arabia
Audiology graduate Hadeel Alsaleh is about to take up a job as Assistant Professor at the new Princess Noor University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and will teach the next generation of audiologists in her home country.
Hadeel chose the University of Southampton for her master’s course in 2005, then returned to study for a PhD between 2006-10. “I researched UK universities online then realised that Southampton offered the strongest programme,” she explains. “I came to England with my son who was four years old and we were made very welcome.”
Supervised by Professor Mark Lutman and Dr Stefan Bleek, Hadeel enjoyed postgraduate research. “Although we were working in one of the best institutes for audiology, people were very friendly and supportive, doors were always open if we wanted to ask anything. While I enjoyed my time in Southampton very much, I am looking forward to the challenge of the next stage in my career.”
