Focusing on student research in Audiology ends the academic year
Audiology undergraduates and postgraduates have showcased their work at an Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) student conference to mark the end of the academic year. They displayed posters and made presentations to their peers and lecturers in this seventh annual event.
"This is a great opportunity for students to explain and present their research for the first time," explains co-ordinator Dr Stefan Bleeck. "Our students always rise to the occasion but this year saw the biggest number of entries with 53 posters and the quality of their work was especially high."
Second year undergraduates and finalists of the final year BSc Audiology programmes joined masters students to take part in the day. Fourth years Josie Chapman and Lucy Wright organised the event, gathering abstracts and drawing together the programme.
"A recent survey revealed audiologists among the happiest professionals and we are not surprised," adds Stefan. "Our students can improve the quality of lives of their patients using the knowledge of Audiology. The students' expertise in research that was demonstrated at today's poster day is evidence for the high quality of teaching in our University. This critical research approach is important for laying the foundation of life-long learning and success in their profession that usually give our students an employment rate of 100 per cent."
