Researchers from the University of Southampton will help tackle challenges facing the energy shipping industry in a new Centre for Maritime Futures launched with Shell Shipping & Maritime.

University and industry partners will join forces to take a collaborative lead in creating cleaner, more sustainable energy and help deliver the UN International Maritime Organisation’s goal to reduce greenhouse emissions from international shipping by 50 percent by 2050.

The Centre has been established with a gift of £1.5m from Shell Shipping & Maritime, the largest corporate gift in the University’s history.
