Reconnect with Engineering and the Environment ? Anniversary Class Reunion 2012

On Saturday 1st September we were delighted to invite our Engineering and Environment alumni back to campus to celebrate their 20th, 30th, 40th and 50th anniversaries. Our Alumni were able to explore some of our world class facilities and rub shoulders with our leading Academics and research students.

To celebrate their return to campus we provided tours of six of our world class facilities; some very familiar whilst others highlighted the changes that have been made since our alumni graduated. The facilities we showcased included the Wind Tunnels, our brand new 3D printing facility, the Flight Simulator, µ-VIS’s X-ray Imaging Centre, the Anechoic and Reverberation chambers and facilities used in research into the effects of vibration on human comfort, health and performance.

The brochure below provides an insight as to what the tours comprised, and the pdf links below give a more in-depth overview of each of the facilities. We would like to take the opportunity of thanking all those who attended the day and hope you enjoyed the experience and managed to catch up with friends old and new. Some comments from the day include:

"I particularly enjoyed the Nanofabrication tour and the Engineering Faculty tour (flight simulator was fab - sorry I crashed the red arrow .....) it all made me want to be a student again."

"What a great day. We were made to feel so welcome and felt like we belonged back at the University, at least for a day! There was so much to fit in, I'm sure that we would have enjoyed any of the events/demonstrations that were available, but those we saw were very well presented and showed us a side of the University we hadn't seen before".
