Event details
Bioengineering Seminar on Bio-mimetics and Soft Robotics from Prof Rossiter (Bristol) and exhibition on Robotics
Soft robotics is set to have impact on almost all aspects of our lives, from wearable technologies and implantable medical devices to environmental robots and deployable space systems. In this talk I will examine how soft robotics will become truly ubiquitous. I will present some of the work from the Bristol Soft Robotics Group across the spectrum of research from smart materials and electroactive polymers through intelligent mechanisms and mathematical modelling to complete soft robotic devices and machines. We will introduce reactive materials and structures and show how bio-inspired design and strong application pull can be exploited to deliver versatile compliant technologies. Examples include smart colour changing skins, artificial muscles, tactile sensors and laser-scribe 3D printing and actuation with light.
We look forward to seeing you there.
