Dragonfly Day

An on-campus day designed for Year 9 female students to encourage young women to consider the benefits of further study, and careers, in science and engineering.

Dragonfly Day year 9 girls

Dragonfly Days are a popular initiative run in partnership with the Outreach team for Year 9 girls from local schools. Participants have an opportunity to meet and work with female engineers from the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment. As well as doing practical investigations and experiments, there are opportunities to explore careers in STEM and to quiz our researchers about their path to University.

Recent events have been led by female researchers and students, within the following disciplines Tribology, Acoustics, Geology, µ-VIS X-ray Imaging Centre, Astronomy, MechanicalSpaceflight and 'People Like Me'.

Dragonfly Days represent the Faculty on the RCUK-funded Talk to US initiative developing best practice in school-university partnerships.

Applications are now open for the Dragonfly Day on the 6th December 2018.
