George Foot MSc Audiology
Hi, I'm George Foot and I studied MSc Audiology within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.
I’m having a great time, learning about engaging topics and becoming a forward-thinking health care professional.
I studied an MSc in electronics before applying for the MSc Audiology at Southampton. I wanted to use the skills I had to help patients. The MSc course has enabled me to learn the fundamentals of Audiology and support me in working with patients.
Semester 1 was really interesting for me as I had no previous knowledge of Audiology, especially learning about the Anatomy and Pathologies of hearing. I'm having a great time, learning about engaging topics and becoming a forward-thinking health care professional.
My favourite aspects of the course are the clinical visits in semester 2 which has allowed me to put the theory I learnt in semester 1 into practice. The visits cover most aspects of audiology: adult rehabilitation (hearing aid fitting), vestibular clinics (balance testing), paediatrics and cochlear implants.
On completion of the course I will undertake a placement within an NHS department to enable me to register and work in the NHS or private sector.
