Sam Angwin MSc Energy and Sustainability
Hi, I'm Sam Angwin and I studied MSc Energy and Sustainability within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.
The teaching facilities at Southampton are of a high quality and modern. On the MSc course we also have the opportunity to go on a variety of field trips to see first-hand some of the topics which are discussed in lectures.
So far my time at Southampton has been very enjoyable. The energy and sustainability course has been extremely interesting and has provided me with an appreciation of the diverse, complex and interrelated issues which needed to be considered over the next decades in order to engineer a more sustainable society for the future.
I chose to come to Southampton as the course covered a wide variety of topics which I am interested in and more generally the engineering department at the university is highly regarded.
The most enjoyable part of the course has been the class discussions which have been a regular feature in many of the modules. In some of the modules there are as few as 15 students which allows everyone to be involved and share their points of view, this has been particularly interesting as there are students from a wide range of nationalities, who all have their own insights. Since the course is relatively small we have formed a close group and as a result I have made some good friends on the course.
For the MSc in Energy and Sustainability there is a large emphasis on coursework for the assessment of modules which has allowed us to work on a variety of short projects.
Upon completion of this master’s programme I hope to either continue to study for a PhD on an energy related topic or to work in an engineering or energy consultancy.
