Stoyan Manolov MSc Civil Engineering

Hi, I'm Stoyan Manolov and I studied MSc Civil Engineering within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.

For my placement, I’m working at the construction company Clancy Docwra in Kent. It has been a good way of expanding my knowledge while using my skills and getting practical experience.

"I took my BEng in Civil Engineering in Cardiff, then decided to come to Southampton, partly because a friend studying aerospace engineering here had recommended it. Southampton is a well-respected university with a good reputation for engineering and I liked the fact that the degree involves a year's industrial placement.

"During the taught part of my course, I particularly enjoyed studying advanced structural engineering, which was taught by Dr Mike Byfield, and earthquake engineering.

"For my placement, I'm working at the construction company Clancy Docwra in Kent. It has been a good way of expanding my knowledge while using my skills and getting practical experience. I applied for the placement when I started my master's degree after learning that they had taken students from Southampton in the past."
