Hi, I'm Wanhu Yang and I studied MSc Sustainable Energy Technologies 2012 within Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.

I made two 3D printers to understand how they work and how the processes can be redesigned and improved.

"I enjoyed my master's project in 3D printing so much, I would like to continue my research into the subject by taking a PhD at Southampton. It is a very exciting new technology and could transform manufacturing in the future. Under the supervision of Dr Shoufeng Yang, I made two 3D printers to understand how they work and how the processes can be redesigned and improved. It was good to actually build a printer, which is still in use as a lab facility today.

"After taking my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and Business Management at Kings College London, I wanted to continue in engineering. I chose to come to Southampton because of its reputation for engineering and, of course, this particular degree in sustainable energy technologies. I was also keen to experience life in the UK outside London. Southampton is a great place to study with students from around the globe. In my first semester project group there were nine people from seven countries and I have made many friends here."
