Mr Daniel Gropper is a Postgraduate research student within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton.

Daniel graduated with a four-year Diplom degree in mechanical engineering from Kempten University, Germany in 2012. After working two years as a Research and Development Engineer for the Pfeifer group, a multinational company in the lifting technology sector, he joined the National Centre for Advanced Tribology at Southampton (nCATS) in September 2014. He is currently in the third year of his PhD at the University of Southampton where he is investigating the influence of surface texturing on the performance of tilting pad thrust bearings through both, numerical and experimental studies in collaboration with John Crane UK Ltd.
