Mr Tom Bamford is a postgraduate research student with the Computational Engineering and Design group based within the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton.

Tom started his PhD with the University of Southampton in September 2020, before which he spent two years in industry working as a developer and machine learning engineer. He is based within the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre for Computational Engineering.

His primary research interests are within the field of aerodynamic shape design, in particular investigating how artificial intelligence and deep learning techniques can be exploited in this area. The project is funded by EPSRC and Rolls-Royce.

Tom obtained his first degree in Natural Sciences (Astrophysics) from the University of Cambridge in 2016, in which he was awarded First Class Honours
