Richard Deacon is a Postgraduate Research Student within Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton.

He joined the university in 2011 to study for a BSc in Psychology, and then for a MSc in Research Methods in 2014, before joining the Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Infrastructure Systems in 2015. He is now based within the Transportation Research Group working with the Human Factors Engineering Team. The focus of his research is investigating the barriers to the uptake of electric vehicle technology.
