Mr Stefano Camperi is a Postgraduate Research Student and Marie Curie fellow within the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, which is part of the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment at the University of Southampton.

Current position

Stefano works in the Signal Processing and Control Group of the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research as Early Stage Researcher. His major research area covers the active control of vibration. He joins the Innovative Training Network (ITN) Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) fellowship within the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FP7). His project is Advanced Training and Research in Energy Efficient Smart Structures (ANTARES).

Career history

Stefano graduated with an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, in October 2015. He developed his master thesis as visiting student at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR) at the University of Southampton, UK, investigating the design and the optimisation of a multi-degrees-of-freedom energy harvester.

Research interests

Mr. Camperi’s research interest focus on the active control of structural vibration. Within this research, he is specifically interested in:

Active control of vibration in light structures.

Algorithm development for active vibration control.

Self-tuning decentralised control systems.

Electromechanical transducers for active control.
