Mr Tao Zhu is a Postgraduate research student within Engineering and Physical Sciences, University of Southampton.

After graduated with a MSc degree from Jilin University, China, Tao went to University of Southampton in Sep 2017 to further his research on Automotive Engineering.

Tao’s current PhD project focuses on Hybrid Energy Storage System for Electric and Hybrid Electric Vehicles, funded by University of Southampton and China Scholarship Council. This project aims at improving the vehicle energy utilization by configuration of dual energy storages and optimization of energy management.

Before coming to Southampton, Tao had participated in several engineering projects about electric vehicles, including battery thermal management, vehicle control strategies and vehicle energy management. In year 2010, Tao won China National Encouragement Scholarship. Tao was a member of State Key Laboratory of Automotive Simulation and Control, China for 3 years, where he accumulated experience in vehicle simulation.
