A University of Southampton masters degree could give you the expertise to develop a rewarding career designing and building the next generation of unmanned autonomous vehicles (UAVs).
Unmanned aircraft and marine craft are increasingly being used across the globe in environments too challenging for humans. Technological advances mean scope for further development is limitless. The worldwide market for UAVs is already worth US$6.6 billion a year; this is set to rise to $55billion by 2020.
Leading aerospace and defence companies need to recruit talented people with this specialist knowledge. Our new unique masters degree has been designed for innovative engineers who want to work with UAV systems, we expect our graduates to secure good jobs in this field.
Our full-time taught postgraduate degree, which also involves individual and group projects, is delivered by expert academics currently working with several types of UAVs, in collaboration with leading companies such as BAE Systems, QinetiQ and Cobham.
We have been awarded several grants by the UK's Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to further our research into UAVs.
Our undergraduates and postgraduates have already been successful in a number of international competitions including:
