Collaborations

We have a long history of collaborating with academic and industrial partners on world-leading research.

Our research groups are constantly working on projects in collaboration with external partners, drawing on each other's knowledge, skills, experience, specialist facilities and equipment.

Our research collaborations take many forms, from long- and short-term contract projects through to the creation of University Technology Centres.

We are able to draw on the expertise of academic units from across the University, and have established several internal groups which are working on multidisciplinary research projects. We also have key collaborations with top engineering and environmental science divisions in leading universities around the world.

Five major organisations – Microsoft, Airbus, RNLI, Lloyd's Register and Rolls-Royce – have chosen the University of Southampton to host University Technology Centres. These centres enable the University and industry to collaborate on intensive research and development and exciting technology innovation.
